About me

My name is Maria Vladimirova and I am an abstract artist based in Sofia, Bulgaria. I have been painting and drawing for as long as I can remember.
The name “MemeMorphosis“ is a blend of my very first conscious identity and everything that followed after that.
“Meme” was my childhood nickname, given by myself while trying to desperately pronounce ‘‘Ma-Ri-A’’ somewhere around the age of 2.
This wordplay repeated itself so much that the nickname Meme stuck with me amongst my closest circle until the present day.

In 2019, I began exploring the unparalleled expressive freedom that abstract art offers. What started as self-taught art therapy to cope with family loss has evolved into a passion that serves as my personal sanctuary, allowing me to access my authentic self.
The inspiration for my work comes through different channels: my emotional state, subconscious impressions from my environment, color palettes, textures and materials and music.

The process of creation is joy, experimentation is a must.

In the dynamic dialogue between my artwork and myself, the occurring metamorphosis fosters healing and deepens my understanding of who I am becoming.

The only constant thing in life is change.
